  • What should I do if I can’t log into CHEMSPRO?

    Check your Internet connection
    Try a website like Google: http://www.google.com
    If this fails it’s likely your own internet connection

    Try the DOT’s website: http://www.dot.state.wi.us
    If Google works and the DOT doesn’t it’s likely a DOT internet issue


    Verify you are running the latest version
    Look in the CHEMS Community Server Software folder for the latest software. If you think your software may be outdated just install the latest version and try again. If you can’t login to CHEMSPRO you can check the version number by right-clicking on the
    c:\program files\chems\chemspro.exe file and picking the properties menu option. Then choose the details tab and check the ‘file version’. Please note your folder may be different than c:\program files\chems if you chose a different location when you installed CHEMSPRO.


    Check the CHEMS Community Server (CS) for outage information
    Look in the CS System Announcements and CHEMSPRO Support Forums for any outage information. If there aren’t any posts about an outage and you are fairly convinced it’s a CHEMS issue post a note in the CHEMSPRO Support Forum.

    Ask if there are any known issues that might prevent you from connecting.

    Contact CHEMS Support
    Send an Email (chems@dot.wi.gov) or call CHEMS Support (608-873-0665) to help troubleshoot the problem.

    • Which Server should I choose when I login?

      There are 5 server choices in CHEMSPRO available on the login screen. The server you should normally log into will come up automatically after enter your user ID. If there is a problem with either of the production servers you can log into the ‘other’ production server to continue working. The Prod #1 and Prod #2 servers are identical. The goal is to balance the traffic and load between the two Prod servers for normal operations and manually ‘fail-over’ to the other production server if...

      If your Internet connection is OK and you see any of the following error messages it’s likely an issue at the DOT. Please check the CHEMS Community Server for any additional information and/or report the problem you are having ASAP if no one else has.

      The CHEMS Community Server is our main method of CHEMSPRO communication. You can review posts from other users and post your own questions and comments about the system. Normally questions about CHEMSPRO should be posted in the CHEMSPRO Support Forum.

    • How safe is my data?

      Your data is very safe. As a result of ‘9/11’ the State created a redundant data center at a remote location. When you hit ‘F9’ to save your data the information is written to both data centers simultaneously. Even if one data center is completely destroyed there won’t be any data loss. To date, after many years of operation, there hasn’t been any loss of Oracle data for anyone at the DOT related to a hardware failure.
